a cool place for kids to hang

catch-up

wow, long time no blog post! time sure flies when you're having fun i guess, lol

i graduated last thursday! your boy officially has an aas in programming and software design. i had a couple celebrations for it - a small one with my mom's side of the family that weekend, and a slightly larger one with my dad's side of the family just yesterday. both celebrations featured delicious cake. i'd show them off, but one of them features my school's acronym on it and in the interest of not giving away exactly where i live it's probably best not to. rest assured they were beautiful and yummy. in the meantime, here's a pic of me in my cap and gown! sorry it looks awkward as fuck but it is unfortunately the best picture i have.

other than that, not much has been going on. i dogsat for my dad and his girlfriend the other weekend and that went pretty smoothly. their dogs are very sweet and didn't require any kind of special care, so i basically just hung out in a mostly-empty house for a few days. not a bad gig if i do say so myself. don't worry, i won't forget the pet tax. the poodle is bentley and the black dog is lucy!

i've been going to family lunches with my dad's side of the family almost every tuesday for a while now. i can't say the company is my favorite - i am easily the youngest person at the table and they're all conservative - but i get free delicious lunch and some time with my dad so i'm not complaining too much. it's really weird to connect with my dad after all these years, especially since he's changed so much. i've been having a hard time remembering what it was like living with him in the first place lately, and seeing him act so different from what i do remember is really jarring. it's hard to say i dislike it, though.

in other news, i made an appointment with planned parenthood to start hrt! i'm really excited. i've been nervous about contacting them for a while, but i finally bit the bullet. i'm probably gonna go with gel since i think i'm too much of a weenie to give myself shots, but i'll see what they suggest. my mom is being a bit of a spoilsport about it, but that's about what i expected.

i've gotten really into making pinterest boards lately. i have one for yugamu right here (warning that there's some medical imagery and a centipede in there) and i've been slowly working on other hundred line boards. i was obsessed with pinterest like ten years ago and it's been kinda fun getting back into it.

sitewise, i haven't been working on much. i need to consolidate my rss feeds into one - i don't know what i was thinking making separate rss feeds for everything. who wants to subscribe to five feeds for one website? that's ridiculous. am i stupid?

anyway, i did upload a fic recently! it's a little character study about yugamu because of course it is. i'm trying to get into writing fanfic more, though i've kinda dropped the ball on that since posting that fic. i have so many ideas i want to get out there! and speaking of fic, i wanna shout out makochiu on ao3. he's written tons of great fics (not all of which i've read yet; i'm working on it) and it's been inspiring for me! i found him during hundred line girls' week and it was so fun reading everything he wrote for it. we've been leaving comments on each others' works and it's so nice to just talk about writing. i've been trying to get in the habit of leaving more comments ever since my girlfriend mentioned one of our mutual friends told her to do the same, and i gotta say i highly recommend it! authors love receiving comments and it gives you a chance to reflect on what you've just read. don't be afraid to leave comments!

back to the site, though. i've been thinking of redoing my blog (again), this time using a static site generator to write posts. npckc wrote a great post on how to get started with hugo and i'm really fascinated by it. at the very least i am very enamored with the idea of hunting down and picking out a cute little new theme for my blog. we'll see what happens! i don't think i'd want to use an ssg for my entire site, though.

i watched the tadc finale in theaters and god, i cried a couple of times. while i can definitely understand some criticisms with it, a lot of them i think are in bad faith. i won't get super in-depth here since, despite the episode now being out on youtube, i don't want to spoil any stragglers who haven't gotten to it yet, but just know that i really enjoyed it and i've been dying to rewatch it. i really need to set aside some time for that…

also, i LOVE chapter 5 of deltarune. i actually played it myself this time, and although i missed out on a lot of content, i really enjoyed it! i've been catching up on the stuff i didn't get to on youtube, though i still have yet to see the secret boss. i did see weird route though, which… oof. no spoilers but that was so fucking harrowing. evidentlyfresh has an incredible fansong about it. she has a lot of good fansongs, actually; artemis linked one to me the other day and i've been listening to her stuff since. i think chapter 4 is still my favorite chapter, but 5 has a lot of really fun mechanics and characters. a+ as usual!

i thiiiink that about covers what i've been up to the past couple months! i'm sure i'll think of something else once i've posted this though lol. hoping to get back into the swing of blog posting after this! i've missed writing these. i also have some more sketches i want to put in my gallery that i'll put up after this. catch y'all later!
