new year, same blog

happy new year everyone! sorry this update is coming so late; i haven't had much drive to update the site in a while. i think i'll have something new soon though! last year i made a new year reflection page for a 32-bit cafe project, and i'm thinking about creating something similar this year. i don't know if they're doing anything for new year's this time around; this would just be for me. i feel like a lot happened last year but also not much happened at all? it's weird. if i don't make a whole page, though, i'll just write a blog post.

how has 2026 been so far? it's been pretty nice! i've been working on applying to schools for autumn. i still need to look into scholarships for uw, but i don't have high hopes of getting into that one. it's a shame since that's where i wanted to go most, but wsu isn't a bad second option. either way, i'm hoping i'll be at another school this coming fall.

i've been watching a lot of vlogs lately. cylovesfrogs has been my main go-to; i love her vibes and it's so fun seeing all the places she (and sometimes cass) travels to. chicken is such a cute doggy too… watching vlogs makes me think i want to start vlogging too, but i doubt i'd actually enjoy doing that. not to mention the fact that i don't really do anything most of the time LOL. i still like to imagine what i'd say to a camera as i go about my day, though.

i haven't done a whole lot of gaming unfortunately. i did start playing mr. rainer's solve-it service and i got an ending yesterday. i don't think i like it as much as the other etherane games i've played just yet, but it is good! i like the unique blend of twine and bitsy elements. i also picked up dungeon clawler, a roguelike where your actions in battle are determined by the items you grab in a claw machine. it presents a really fun challenge and thankfully is not rigged against you like a real claw machine LOL. i'm thinking of starting up my demo blog again, but instead of rigidly sticking to one demo a day and writing + posting my entry about it the same day, i'll play as many as i feel like, write up the entries, and just post one a day. that's a lot smarter and what i should've been doing all this time. look forward to it!

i haven't been doing any programming lately, but i finally have an idea. i'd like to create something similar to hoarsclacks on tiktok, though i wouldn't make videos or anything. it'd just be a fun experiment to improve my skills. i'd also really like to make a visual novel this year! i want to make some kind of completed project, at least. i want more games under my belt! it would be fun to make more zines, too. the venice one was really fun and i'd like to create one with a little more substance.

i'd also like to read more this year. it might be fun to keep a journal about the stuff i read too. 2026 is the year of actually using the notebooks i keep collecting and not writing in LOL. i could also use a journal for writing my demo reviews too… hmm. you guys i have so many notebooks it is an Issue. anyway reading! i have some books i didn't finish in 2025 and i have mountains of books i haven't even touched yet. i'm so bad about buying books and not reading them.

finally, i'd like to make some of my shrine dreams a reality! i started writing for three separate shrines and didn't finish any of them. the total drama one was a little too ambitious for a first shrine, but my ouma and mal shrines are still totally doable. i also want to write more fanfic. it was fun to get back into it last year, but i didn't end up writing much. i have some hundred line fic ideas that i want to bring to life!

those are my goals for 2026. it's going to be my 30th birthday next wednesday and i'm looking forward to entering a new decade! i might write a blog post about that too, though i don't have big plans for the day of. i'll probably do something special on discord that day, but i'm hoping to visit my cousins that weekend for the actual celebration. i'll see y'all around!
