small update

hey everyone! i haven't been as busy as i'd like to be, but i still want to put together a little blog post. i have started looking at the other girly game jam entries, but i haven't finished yet, so my coverage of those will be finished a little later.

i went to my cousins' house for a few days at the start of the week and it was really lovely! i always feel good there and it's a nice little break from my regular life. after that i had a long day with one of my cousins where we got our hair done and had sushi for lunch, which was incredible. i was really in need of a hair refresh; it's been months since i got it done. i think it came out incredible and i'm so happy to have my red hair back!

i haven't gotten much done creatively, unfortunately. i got a new zine idea for a day that i scrawled into procreate, but i'm not sure when i'll actually get it done. the tentative title is the god, the angel and the devil and it's about the connection i feel with three characters: charles eyler from hello charlotte, macy from seraphim slum, and venus from we know the devil. macy is a new one, and i haven't even finished seraphim slum yet (i fell off playing when i went to my cousins' and never got back to it), but i'm kind of obsessed with her.

i'm really excited about handheld gaming lately. i've been kinda getting back into using my switch. i bought a few new games, including a bundle of four small farming sims. i've tried out two of them: cottonville and sprout valley. cottonville is unique in that instead of farming for food, you farm for supplies you need to create clothing. it's a very cute game that i like! sprout valley is typical farming sim fare, but it's also very cute and i like what i've played so far. i also got ddlc plus (which i've already played but i wanted to play in bed), graveyard keeper, and cat quest. i've played a little bit of the latter two and i enjoy them! i haven't gotten very far in either, though.

i'm also planning on modding my 3ds. all i'm waiting on is a larger sd card, which i should be getting on tuesday. for some reason i've just been really feeling the itch to do it lately, so i'm finally biting the bullet and doing it. it seems pretty simple and i'm excited about it! finally in handheld news, i'm hoping to get a steam deck. a new model is a bit out of my budget, so i'm keeping my eyes peeled for a refurbished one. hopefully i can get one soon!

that's about all that's going on in my life. i'm getting out tomorrow to do a little shopping and hang out at my favorite game store, which finally opened its back room back up after it being closed for years! i'm really excited for that. next time i'll have my girly game jam thoughts. i'd like to get more creative stuff done before then too; other than the occasional sketch, i haven't been doing much. see y'all around!
