a cool place for kids to hang

experimenting

howdy everyone! i'm writing this post on linux mint through a virtual machine... whoa. i've been wanting to experiment with linux for a while and a friend suggested i use vmware for it, so i've finally done it! i'm enjoying using it so far; my only gripe is i can't figure out how to get the unread message badge for discord to show up. i'm sure a quick google search would help me figure that out, but eh. since it's a virtual machine i can just keep discord open on my other monitor lol. i want to do more customizing in the future, but for now here's my desktop:

that desktop image is by absolem0. i've been on an erenwol kick lately so i decided an erenville desktop pic with a slideshow of mimiya was the way to go. after i took this pic, i added an eye that follows my cursor to the taskbar.

in life news, things have calmed down quite a bit! my nephew came home from the hospital on tuesday which was really nice. i think i just needed a few days away to reset, and now i'm totally fine lol. i've got august and half of september to go before my final quarter at school starts! i'm so excited. still not sure what i'm gonna do after graduation in spring, but i've got time to figure it out.

i've really been into craft videos lately. crafting vlogs, lists of crafts to do, stuff like that. i watched froggycrossing make a little tote bag out of yarn from the dollar tree and it inspired me to start crocheting again! i started making a mini tote bag with what i call my bisexual yarn. i'm about halfway done!

i seriously need to get back into programming again. it's just hard to think of what to do... i guess i could get started with codecademy lessons again. i've been looking into making games with pico-8 lately but alas... no ideas. i've been having that same issue with writing, though i finally came up with some ideas. now i just have to get past The FearTM and actually write them. i've really been wanting to get back in the fanfic game; my last published fic was over nine years ago. time really does fly...

we started up our d&d campaign last weekend! it's super fun already. next session we begin our train heist and i'm really excited. my character is a dwarf noblewoman named candace. here's the token the dm drew for her! (here's the post, linked directly because his account is largely nsfw)

i've been spending a lot of time in bed lately. i remembered my mom had one of those bed desk tray things she never uses and i figured it'd be perfect for using my ipad in bed and i was absolutely right! it's been really relaxing. i think it helps to have more than one place to hang out; i spend so much time at my desk and not much else. it's still just in my bedroom, but it helps. it's especially nice for my migraine days. i have good enough medicine that keeps me from really feeling the pain for too long, but it also knocks me on my ass for the rest of the day when i take it. i am planning on ordering another lap desk when i get paid because the one i've been using is a little flimsy, but sadly i haven't been able to find any that have the nice side compartments for books and stuff. i was able to find one with a cupholder at least.

i'm almost done with my venice zine! i've done almost all the art for it - the last drawing i want to do in electric zine maker itself. i might go ahead and put that together when i'm done with this post, but we'll see. i'm a little wary hosting it on itch.io after the nsfw crackdown, especially considering whatever they used to filter stuff out grabbed a lot of sfw queer works too. i don't think i'd be affected, and i can't think of anywhere else i'd upload it where people would actually see it, but it's still a bit daunting. but we stay silly.

that's it for this post! i know it's been a bit since i've written, but i haven't had a ton to say. it was nice getting to blog again! see y'all next time!
