month's adventures
okay i've been sitting on this post for nearly a month because i didn't want to hunt down all the artists i bought from so i'm. not doing that now. feel free to ask if you want to know who made what, and maybe i'll update this post later with the artists
also, i whipped together a java program in about thirty minutes or so that lets me add bold and italics to my posts without futzing around in the html editor all the time. it's simple and that's about all it can do, but vs code is the type to autocomplete your html tags and it's annoying when i'm trying to type so here we are.
anyway, onto the fun stuff! my cousin and i drove to seattle for sakuracon on thursday, which is a few hours' drive away from this part of washington. it's also a LOT greener over there. i really like it! it's so pretty. we saw a lot of cosplayers even just waiting in line for our badges, which was a bit confusing since the con itself didn't start until the next day, but i admire the spirit. i'm not super into cosplay culture, so maybe there's a reason people dress up the day before? it was cool either way, though. here's my badge, featuring a lanyard i got at the con from sleepyamphy!

friday was an exciting day. i got a raspberry mocha and explored artist alley. i checked out the new amvs that represent block, which was really fun! tons of cool amvs highlighting women, people of color, disabled people, and queer people. a couple of them i recognized from previous amv contests, actually! i didn't end up seeing a ton of panels overall, partly because i had no idea where anything was and the provided maps kinda sucked (maybe there were better ones on the website?), but the ones i did see were a delight. i did a little closet kokichi ouma cosplay, but i sorta half-assed the wig styling so i don't really wanna share any pictures lol
naturally, i got a lot of stuff from artist alley and the exhibitor's hall. i tried to get receipts or cards from every artist, but some i missed out on. i took pics of most of the stuff i got, but some of it is still packed up or a little unwieldy to take photos of. here's my stuff! (right-click to see the full images, the gallery system for this blogging framework doesn't have a lightbox or anything and i don't feel like setting one up right now)
in the interest of actually getting this post out, i won't link to every artist, but i do wanna shout out tracey/sadcatjazz for being super patient with me when i left my ffxiv acrylic stands at their booth
saturday was quite a day. as i'm sure most people have heard by now, there was a fire at cheesecake factory and the smoke permeated part of the convention center. it didn't end up affecting me too badly, since artist alley reopened later, but i really feel bad for the artists. since i wasn't able to get in at the time i arrived, we ended up catching the amv contest after all. that's always a great time! we missed the start of it though, so we didn't get to vote. i actually don't remember now what else i did that day HAHA but i don't recall seeing any other panels.
sunday was a lot less eventful. i went to one last artist alley booth and caught a panel called strange anime for strange people, which was really interesting. a lot of the entries were more goofy than anything else, but there was some cool surreal stuff i want to check out sometime. then we went home! la la la
i had so much fun at sakuracon. i wish i could go to another convention! there's actually going to be a smaller one at a local hotel here in august that i might go to; it depends on what the programming looks like, and that info's not out yet.
shortly after that, i got hooked on the hundred line: last defense academy. that's another reason why this post has been taking so long; i've been playing it almost nonstop. yugamu is easily my favorite, but i also like darumi, eito, and takumi. i've gotten 26 endings so far!
last weekend, the local art walks started back up. i got so much stuff there too! here's most of it:
the dice are really pretty, albeit a bit rough around the edges. there are little dips in it and some surfaces are smooth while others are a little rough. i used them for dnd today though and they work just fine! i even managed to get some good rolls for once. we haven't had a session in like two months either, so it was nice to finally get back into it. i've been looking into some solo ttrpgs to do in between sessions because i'm suddenly obsessed
well, that's about all i got this time! a bit of a heftier update since it's been over a month since my last post. hopefully there won't be any big gaps like that again! i think in between posts i'd like to look into adding a comment section. i've seen a few possible options out there! i'll also want to set up a lightbox for the gallery, since i didn't realize there wasn't one already
