happy new year's eve, everyone! it doesn't look like i'm finishing that new year's event page before the year ends, but that's okay. i'll have time to finish it later. in the meantime, i still wanted to put something out for the end of the year.
overall, it's been a pretty mixed bag of a year. there was a major high - meeting up with my partners at sakuracon - and i feel like i had good days more often than not, but there were some pretty bad lows with two of my dogs dying within four months of each other. i struggled with school a bit, but for the most part it went pretty well. honestly, i don't know if i can say it was a bad year. my mental health improved in a lot of ways, though it's gotten worse closer to the end of the year with ivy passing in october.
still, these past few months haven't been all bad. i started my website and this blog, which has been really fulfilling! i know not a lot of people read this, but even if nobody read it, i would still enjoy writing it and putting it out there. i got back into regularly making art, which i've missed. i don't know yet if i'll keep up the momentum, but i'd like to! doing commissions on furvilla has also been really great, and i think i've been doing good keeping myself from getting burnt out.
the last couple days have ended a bit on a low note, and i worry this one might too, but i'm looking forward to the new year nonetheless! i see my psychiatrist on friday, which will hopefully help with some of the mental health stuff i've been dealing with - between my grief messing with my moods and my realization that my dissociation has been getting worse, i really need it.
i'm thinking of cleaning up my desk to end the year off on a good note. i've never been super into that kinda thing, but something about starting the new year with a nice, clean desk seems really appealing for some reason. i need to do it anyway, so why not now? i'll think about it, at least.
school starts on the 2nd! fingers crossed i get my financial aid back - i still haven't gotten any confirmation on that. i'm looking forward to my classes! advanced object-oriented programming is a continuation of last quarter's java course, which i expected, and i don't even need to get a new text book. computer ethics is a pretty lowkey course, only giving me two credits, but i'm interested to see where it takes me. i don't have a lot of thoughts on sql server administration; stuff like that tends to be my weak spot, but i guess i have to learn somehow.
that about sums things up for me! i hope everyone has a good end-of-year celebration, whether it's a party or just hanging out at home, and i'll see you all next year!
